Eberbach's Advanced Thawing System for Orbital Shakers

Eberbach’s drug substance thawing solutions for pharmaceutical freeze thaw applications are offered with and without full thawing enclosures. The full thawing system uses forced air convection heat transfer with ambient air and Orbital Shakers for efficient and uniform thawing of drug substances in various cryo-containers and bags of different sizes and shapes.

Eberbach offers custom aluminum fixtures for holding cryo-containers and Single Use cryo-bags to aid in the thawing process with heat transfer.

Efficient Thawing of Frozen Vaccines and Biologics

The process of thawing frozen materials, such as vaccines and biologics, can be a time-consuming and potentially damaging process. Traditional methods, such as using a water bath, placing in a heated incubator, or leaving the material stagnant in a room temperature environment, can lead to very long thawing times, uneven thawing, and may introduce heat that can denature proteins.

Further, using mechanical plates can be expensive and not easily allow for use with multiple types of cryo-containers or cryo-bags.

That's why we are excited to introduce the Eberbach Thawing System, an improved thawing system that utilizes forced air convection heat transfer and orbital agitation motion to reduce thawing time and improve uniformity without adding heat.

 

What Makes Eberbach's Thawing System Unique?

Eberbach’s system is fully programmable, it features crosswise airflow with stacked programmable fans that generate a rapid and continuous circulation of ambient air flow through the machine to transfer cold air from frozen containers and bags. This forced air convection helps to evenly carry the cold air inside the machine around the frozen containers and bags outside the machine to optimize the thawing process.  

To further enhance the thawing process, the Eberbach Thawing System has a heavy-duty orbital shaker system at the core. This shaker system can handle extremely heavy loads making it suitable for production applications.  The shaker system is fully programmable and can be programmed to shake at any time in the thawing process and at any speed.  This shaker system will create a gentle, yet effective, uniform agitation motion that helps to evenly disperse the cold air trapped around the frozen containers as well as can be used for mixing the thawed drug substance at the completion of the thawing process.

Eberbach also offers a range of different sized Orbital Shakers that range in capacity from 45 lbs up to 500 lbs. Eberbach's Thawing Systems can be custom built to fit any size shaker your application calls for.

The Eberbach Thawing System also features internal and external temp sensors, thermal imaging of cryo-containers and Singe Use Bags that can be used to end the thawing cycle when frozen containers and bags reach desired temperature, customer network integration for data transfer and drug substance monitoring and a UPS power back up system.

The combination of the forced air convection, orbital shaking and temperature monitoring creates a thawing system that is both effective and efficient while also being gentle on the material to avoid damaging proteins.
