Eberbach uses connectivity, information, and modular equipment to meet customer needs to create more efficient operations in order to help our customer get their products to market faster.
If you operate in a GMP facility you probably already know, successfully integrating process equipment in a GMP environment can become an overwhelming task without the right preparation and integration partner. Eberbach has the experience with automation integration to partner with you and, support you with the proper planning up front to mitigate costly errors and missteps and allow you to focus on developing efficient, production strategies.
Integrated process equipment will provide you the ability to streamline your manufacturing processes, centralized the control of your processes and improve transparency of your manufacturing processes.
If you contact Eberbach early in the project planning stage, Eberbach will work with you to help you analyze valuable up front data that will help with the process optimization as well as regulatory review process, at this point it is important that application requirements and expectations are defined and documented.
This upfront planning strategy serves as a key document that lays the groundwork for concept design to IQ/OQ/PQ to annual operational maintenance. Eberbach will verify that all equipment integration deliverables are clearly defined so that, as the project progresses, it can be measured accurately and reported on throughout project. Eberbach will work with you to align all parties expectations to avoid issues as it is critical all stakeholders are aligned on the project scope and delivery from the start to mitigate delays or scope changes. In an effort to establish mutual understanding and expectations, Eberbach provides equipment validation through factory acceptance tests (FAT) that match IQ/OQ/PQ requirements.
Eberbach Corporation is an ISO certified company that uses Good Automation Manufacturing Practices (GAMP) to establish a mutual understanding between you and Eberbach in terms of the equipment validation process and what is expected from each side for it to be successful.
When purchasing GMP suitable equipment with automation integration needs, it is important to partner with a supplier who has data integration experience. Eberbach’s roots go back over 150 years, Eberbach is a trusted partner that will work with you to create lasting relationship to support your needs for the life of the equipment.
Eberbach offers end to end support, from project planning to equipment servicing to yearly maintenance and validation support. The inclusion of up-front engineering support and project validation provides customers with the data and support they need to execute complex projects.
This type of approach will support on time deliverables and ultimate project success. Whether your application is for stainless steel equipment or single use, Eberbach is a trusted partner for mixing, blending, mixing and bio-processing equipment integration.
Functional Safety and Understanding Hazardous Location Equipment
When working with Eberbach on custom solution, Eberbach’s engineers are focused on not only providing a solution that will meet the application performance specification but will also be safe for our customers to operate.
Eberbach engineering understands Functional safety requirements and will design solutions that reduce the level of risk in a system during operation. While zero risk is an unattainable goal, functional safety identifies potentially dangerous conditions that could result in harm and automatically enables corrective actions to avoid or reduce the impact of an incident. It is part of the overall safety of a system or device that depends on automatic safeguards responding to a hazardous event.
Functional safety relies on active systems that can respond to a potentially dangerous situation. Examples include the deactivation of a motor should an access door open the automatic shutdown of machine when a specific sensor level has been reached.
Eberbach Engineering works to remove unreasonable risk due to hazards caused by malfunctioning behavior of electrical / electronic systems.
IEC 61508, IEC 61511, Regulations (Standards - 29 CFR) 1910 Subpart O and 1910 Subpart S specifically are examples of standards Eberbach engineers are looking at while engineering custom solution.
The IEC 61508 series provides functional safety standards for the lifecycle of electrical, electronic or programmable electronic (E/E/PE) systems and products. It addresses those parts of a device or system that perform automated safety functions including, for example, sensors, control logic, actuators and micro-processors.
IEC 61508 allows for the development of a uniform technical policy that can be applied for all safety systems that are electrically-based. It is a horizontal standard applicable across a wide range of industry sectors.
With regards to Regulations (Standards - 29 CFR), Eberbach engineering focuses on 910 Subpart O - Machinery and Machine Guarding and 1910 Subpart S – Electrical.
910 Subpart O - Machinery and Machine Guarding, Moving machine parts have the potential to cause severe workplace injuries, such as crushed fingers or hands, amputations, burns, or blindness. Safeguards are essential for protecting workers from these preventable injuries. Any machine part, function, or process that may cause injury must be safeguarded. When the operation of a machine or accidental contact injure the operator or others in the vicinity, the hazards must be eliminated or controlled. This page contains general information on the various hazards of mechanical motion and techniques for protecting workers.
1910 Subpart S – Electrical, Eberbach engineering focuses on a few specific sub-parts
1910.305 - Wiring methods, components, and equipment for general use, 1910.399 Hazardous (classified) locations and 1910.399 design of industrial machinery overview.
With regards to 1910.399 Hazardous (classified) locations Eberbach has a lot of experience with Hazardous Location equipment and can provide custom mixing, blending and stirring solutions.
1910.307 - Hazardous (classified) locations. covers the requirements for electric equipment and wiring in locations that are classified depending on the properties of the flammable vapors, liquids or gases, or combustible dusts or fibers that may be present therein and the likelihood that a flammable or combustible concentration or quantity is present. Hazardous (classified) locations may be found in occupancies such as, but not limited to, the following: aircraft hangars, gasoline dispensing and service stations, bulk storage plants for gasoline or other volatile flammable liquids, paint-finishing process plants, health care facilities, agricultural or other facilities where excessive combustible dusts may be present, marinas, boat yards, and petroleum and chemical processing plants. Each room, section or area shall be considered individually in determining its classification.
Eberbach works with international third-party testing and certification agencies and can supply third party hazardous location certification documentation, please contact us for more information regarding your specific applications
